About Indian Lake Schoolcraft

Indian Lake sits in Schoolcraft County in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, near Manistique, covering about 8,400 acres and ranking as the fourth-largest inland lake in the U.P. Father Frederick Baraga established one of his first Native American missions on its shore in 1833, and the lake was already a popular camping destination for Manistique residents by the 1890s. Indian Lake State Park, split into two units on the south and west shores, anchors public access today, with walleye and perch fishing among its main draws.

On the board
  • 10 shore towns named, with a star on each
  • 88 roads engraved around the shore, 5 of them labeled
  • 6 depth layers, each step engraved with its depth in feet
  • Compass rose, title block with coordinates, max depth and area; keyhole hanger on the back
Why we cut this one
Indian Lake Schoolcraft is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
