About Lake Bellaire

Lake Bellaire is a natural lake in Antrim County, Michigan, part of the Elk River Chain of Lakes that flows north into Grand Traverse Bay. It covers about 1,775 acres and reaches a maximum depth of 95 feet, fed by the Intermediate River, which carries water down from the upper lakes in the chain through the village of Bellaire at its southwest end. The lake was once known as Grass Lake, and today its clear, deep water and boat traffic between chain lakes make it a favorite among the region's cottage owners.

On the board
  • 2 shore towns named, with a star on each
  • 97 roads engraved around the shore, 12 of them labeled
  • 6 depth layers, each step engraved with its depth in feet
  • Compass rose, title block with coordinates, max depth and area; keyhole hanger on the back
Why we cut this one
Lake Bellaire is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
