About Lake Gogebic

Lake Gogebic is the largest natural inland lake in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, covering about 13,380 acres near the Wisconsin border in Gogebic and Ontonagon counties. The lake runs roughly 14 miles long and sits within the Ottawa National Forest, its shoreline largely undeveloped outside a scattering of small resorts and Lake Gogebic State Park. Walleye fishing is its main draw, aided by an average depth of less than 20 feet that warms the water quickly each spring, and the surrounding forest keeps the lake one of the quieter big lakes in the western U.P.

On the board

Why we cut this one
Lake Gogebic is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
