About Lakeville Lake
Lakeville Lake sits in Addison Township, Oakland County, Michigan, formed by glacial retreat at the end of the last ice age, like most kettle lakes across southeastern Michigan's moraine country. The lake covers about 450 acres and holds close to seven miles of shoreline, giving it an irregular, many-fingered outline typical of glacial kettle formation. It sits roughly fifteen miles north of Pontiac, in a stretch of Oakland County still dotted with small crossroads communities—Lakeville itself among them—rather than dense suburb. The surrounding land mixes farm fields, second-growth woodlot, and lake-cottage development.
Fishing and small-boat traffic make up most of the lake's recreational use, and its deepest basin, modeled at about 49 feet, gives it more cold-water refuge than many of the shallow kettle lakes nearby. Homes line most of the shoreline, a mix of older cottages converted to year-round residences and newer construction, typical of Oakland County's outlying lakes. Lakeville itself remains unincorporated, a crossroads community without its own downtown, and the lake serves as the area's main recreational anchor for the surrounding township.
