The lake

About Pentwater Lake

Pentwater Lake is a small drowned river-mouth lake in Oceana County, Michigan, formed where the Pentwater River meets Lake Michigan and covering about 431 acres with a maximum depth of 50 feet. A channel through the dunes connects it directly to Lake Michigan, giving the village of Pentwater on its shore a protected harbor for its charter fishing and sailing fleet. Mears State Park's beach sits just across the channel on the Lake Michigan side, and the lake's marina and small-town waterfront are the center of the village's summer economy.
