About Badin Lake

Badin Lake was formed in 1917 when Alcoa dammed the Yadkin River with Narrows Dam to power its new aluminum smelting plant, building the company town of Badin nearby and naming it for one of the firm's founders, Adrien Badin. The lake covers about 5,350 acres with 115 miles of shoreline across Stanly, Montgomery, Davidson and Rowan counties, much of its eastern shore inside Uwharrie National Forest. Badin and Albemarle are the lake towns, with bass and striped bass fishing the main draw. A Navy B-25 crashed into the lake in 1944, and both crewmen are still listed as lost.

Why we cut this one
Badin Lake is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
