The lake
About Lake Gaston
Lake Gaston was created in 1963 by Gaston Dam on the Roanoke River, about 20,000 acres and 34 miles long with 350 miles of shoreline, straddling the Virginia–North Carolina border between Kerr Lake and Roanoke Rapids. Its level barely changes, which is why its shoreline is so built up.
