About Lake Lure
Lake Lure was created in 1927 in Hickory Nut Gorge east of Asheville, about 720 acres and 104 feet deep, beneath Chimney Rock. The 1927 Lake Lure Inn, the flowering bridge and the 1987 film 'Dirty Dancing' — its lake scenes were shot here — are what people come for.
On the board
- 4 shore towns named, with a star on each
- 275 roads engraved around the shore, 1 of them labeled
- 6 depth layers, each step engraved with its depth in feet
- Compass rose, title block with coordinates, max depth and area; keyhole hanger on the back
Why we cut this one
Lake Lure is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.Turn it in your hands
