About Highland Lake

Highland Lake lies mostly in Stoddard, in the hills of southwestern New Hampshire, a natural lake about 697 acres, six miles long but only 30 feet at its deepest. Bog Brook feeds it, and two outlets carry water out, one running through Island Pond toward the North Branch Contoocook River. Highland Lake Marina has served boaters since before the 1960s, and the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests keeps Pickerel Cove as a protected shoreline. Bass and pickerel fill the warm, shallow water.

On the board
  • 97 roads engraved around the shore, 1 of them labeled
  • 6 depth layers, each step engraved with its depth in feet
  • Compass rose, title block with coordinates, max depth and area; keyhole hanger on the back
Why we cut this one
Highland Lake is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
