About Mascoma Lake

Mascoma Lake stretches about 4.2 miles between the towns of Enfield and Lebanon in western New Hampshire, roughly 1,158 acres and up to 68 feet deep, fed by the Mascoma and Knox rivers and draining eventually into the Connecticut. Dartmouth College's sailing team trains here, along with a community sailing club, and the lake freezes reliably enough that NASA once used the ice to test a robotic rover built for Antarctic conditions. The Enfield Shaker Museum, built around the Shaker community that settled the lake's south shore in the 1780s, is the area's best-known landmark.

On the board
  • 6 depth layers, each step engraved with its depth in feet
  • Compass rose, title block with coordinates, max depth and area; keyhole hanger on the back
Why we cut this one
Mascoma Lake is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
