About Mendums Pond
Mendums Pond sits in the town of Northwood, New Hampshire, roughly 20 miles from Manchester, formed behind a dam that backs up a branch of the Little North River. The pond covers about 193 acres with roughly four miles of shoreline, ringed mostly by state forest land rather than dense residential development. New Hampshire Fish and Game manages the area, and Bear Brook State Park borders part of the watershed to the west.
Because so much of the shoreline sits in conservation and state forest land, cabins and camps are sparse compared to New Hampshire's larger recreational lakes. The pond draws anglers working for largemouth bass and pickerel, along with paddlers and campers using the state-run sites nearby. A boat launch on the eastern side handles most public access, and the surrounding forest keeps the shoreline largely undeveloped season to season.
