About Ossipee Lake

Ossipee Lake covers 3,257 acres in Carroll County, New Hampshire, the sixth-largest lake entirely within the state, up to 73 feet deep. Four rivers feed it — the West Branch, the Bearcamp, the Lovell, and the Pine — and it drains east through the Ossipee River toward the Saco in Maine. The towns of Ossipee and Freedom sit on its shores, with Effingham close by, and the lake has grown into one of the region's busiest vacation-home lakes, ringed with cabins, condos, and rental cottages. Bass, pickerel, and stocked trout and salmon keep the anglers out even after the summer crowds thin.
