The lake
About Culver Lake
Culver Lake, sometimes called Culver's Lake, lies in Frankford Township in Sussex County, New Jersey, a natural lake of about 555 acres and 50 feet at its deepest. It was once known as Round Pond before being renamed for an early Congregational minister, and it sits at Culver Gap, a passage through Kittatinny Mountain that people have used for roughly 10,000 years. Early mills ran on the water's drop toward Branchville, and the lake is now home to a private, year-round community.
