About Lake Mohawk

Lake Mohawk was created starting in 1926, when the Arthur D. Crane Company dammed streams and springs of the Wallkill River in Sparta, New Jersey, and the lake filled by 1928. It covers about 800 acres and anchors a private, planned community with Alpine-style architecture, a yacht club chartered in 1938, and a golf course that opened its first nine holes in 1929. The 1937 swimming pool was an early adopter of ozone water treatment. Sailing, boating and golf fill the season.

On the board
  • 4 shore towns named, with a star on each
  • 208 roads engraved around the shore, 18 of them labeled
  • 6 depth layers, each step engraved with its depth in feet
  • Compass rose, title block with coordinates, max depth and area; keyhole hanger on the back
Why we cut this one
Lake Mohawk is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
