About Buckeye Lake

Buckeye Lake began as the Licking Summit reservoir for the Ohio and Erie Canal in 1826, about 3,100 acres and shallow, half an hour east of Columbus. It became Ohio's first state park in 1949; the dam was rebuilt through 2018 after the Corps found it could fail, and the Cranberry Bog floating island at its center is a national natural landmark.

On the board
  • 20 shore towns named, with a star on each
  • 739 roads engraved around the shore, 6 of them labeled
  • 6 depth layers, each step engraved with its depth in feet
  • Compass rose, title block with coordinates, max depth and area; keyhole hanger on the back
Why we cut this one
Buckeye Lake is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
