About Lake Murray

Lake Murray was built between 1933 and 1937 by the WPA and the Civilian Conservation Corps, damming Anadarche and Fourche Maline creeks south of Ardmore in south-central Oklahoma. It covers about 5,728 acres with 67 miles of shoreline and depths to 100 feet, entirely inside Lake Murray State Park — Oklahoma's first and largest. Tucker Tower, a five-story limestone lookout meant as a governor's retreat, still stands on the south shore; no governor ever spent a night there.

On the board
  • 2 shore towns named, with a star on each
  • 429 roads engraved around the shore, 5 of them labeled
  • 6 depth layers, each step engraved with its depth in feet
  • Compass rose, title block with coordinates, max depth and area; keyhole hanger on the back
Why we cut this one
Lake Murray is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
