About Odell Lake
Odell Lake sits at Willamette Pass in Oregon's Cascade Range, held back by a glacial moraine that dammed the valley thousands of years ago. The lake covers roughly 3,400 acres with about 13 miles of shoreline, ringed by lodgepole pine and fir within the Deschutes National Forest. Odell Lake Lodge, built near the eastern shore in the early 1900s, served travelers on the old wagon road over the pass and later anglers arriving by car on Highway 58. The lake has no incorporated town on its banks; visitors come from Klamath Falls, Eugene, and Bend.
The lake holds mackinaw (lake trout) and kokanee salmon, and it has a reputation among Oregon anglers for producing large mackinaw as well as steady kokanee catches through the summer. Afternoon winds funnel through the pass with enough consistency that windsurfers and kiteboarders treat Odell as one of the more reliable spots in the Oregon Cascades. A resort marina rents boats and cabins on the east end, while the west end stays quieter, backed by steep timbered slopes. Willamette Pass Ski Area sits close to the lake's west end, drawing a winter crowd that overlaps little with the summer anglers and sailors.

Yes. Odell Lake is cut layer by layer from published bathymetric soundings — each layer of birch is a depth contour, so the shape of the bottom is the real one, not decorative.
