About Lake Moultrie

Lake Moultrie was built alongside Lake Marion in the early 1940s as the second lake of the Santee Cooper hydroelectric and navigation project, with Pinopolis Dam impounding water diverted from the Santee River system. It covers roughly 60,000 acres, South Carolina's third-largest lake, around Moncks Corner, Cross and St. Stephen. The lake rarely freezes and keeps long stretches of cypress swamp and blackwater creek along its edges. A 58-pound channel catfish, a world record at the time it was caught, came out of these waters, and the lake still holds the state's black crappie record.

Why we cut this one
Lake Moultrie is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
