About Pickwick Lake
Pickwick Lake was formed in 1938 when the Tennessee Valley Authority closed Pickwick Landing Dam on the Tennessee River, and it's one of the few lakes in the country to touch three states at once. It covers about 43,100 acres with depths near 60 feet, running from Counce, Tennessee, past Florence, Alabama, and into the Mississippi hill country. The lake connects to the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, so barge traffic and bass boats share the same water on its way toward the Gulf.
