The lake
About Lake Granbury
Lake Granbury was created in 1969 when De Cordova Bend Dam was finished on the Brazos River, about 8,310 acres with 103 miles of shoreline and a maximum depth of 75 feet. The town of Granbury, on the Hood County courthouse square, sits on its north shore. The dam's construction is what sent writer John Graves down the free-flowing Brazos one last time by canoe, a trip that became his classic book 'Goodbye to a River.'
