About Lake Travis
Lake Travis was formed in 1942 by Mansfield Dam on the Colorado River northwest of Austin, the largest of the Highland Lakes chain. It runs about 64 miles with 270 miles of shoreline and depths to 210 feet at the dam, and its level swings dramatically with Central Texas drought and flood.
Lakeway, Volente, Hudson Bend and the Oasis restaurant's sunset deck are the lake's landmarks; Hippie Hollow is the state's only clothing-optional park. Devil's Cove is where the party boats raft up.

The lake covers about 21.2 square miles, and 3810 shore roads are engraved around it. The shape of the bottom is the real one from published soundings, so anglers recognise their drop-offs and points.

Is it made from real depth data?
Yes. Lake Travis is cut layer by layer from published bathymetric soundings — each layer of birch is a depth contour, so the shape of the bottom is the real one, not decorative.
Can I add my own place on it?
Yes. At checkout you can add a line under the title (a family name, a cabin name, a year) and star the spot on the shore that matters to you.
