About Lake Winnsboro

Lake Winnsboro sits just outside the city of Winnsboro in Wood County, in the piney, red-clay country of northeast Texas about 30 miles north of Tyler. It's a small municipal reservoir rather than a river-run lake, built to hold water for the surrounding community, and its shoreline traces a long, uneven line of coves and points instead of one open basin. At roughly 697 acres, it's modest by East Texas standards, closer in size to the region's farm-pond reservoirs than to Lake Fork or Cedar Creek to the south.

The lake's 11 miles of shoreline against under 700 acres of surface area gives it an unusually high edge-to-water ratio, the kind of shape that comes from a dam backing water up several creek arms rather than flooding a single wide valley. Depth stays shallow throughout, topping out around 42 feet near the dam and running far shallower across most of the lake. Local anglers fish it for bass and crappie, and Winnsboro residents use it for the same quiet, small-town lake routines common across Wood County: bank fishing, a boat ramp, an evening drive along the water.

Why we cut this one
Lake Winnsboro is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.

Depth chart

Lake Winnsboro depth chart, in wood

This is a Lake Winnsboro depth chart you can hang: 6 stacked layers of birch, each one a depth contour — 7 ft, 14 ft, 21 ft, 28 ft, 35 ft and deeper, down to the deepest hole at about 42 ft. The lake covers about 1.2 square miles. The shape of the bottom is the real one from published soundings, so anglers recognise their drop-offs and points.

A Lake Winnsboro map for the wall — or a gift

Most of these go to a cabin wall, a lake house entry, or a home office; a lot are gifts — the family that has been on Lake Winnsboro for three generations, the retirement move, the first boat. The 12-inch is the desk-and-shelf size; the 24- and 30-inch boards read across a room. Add a line under the title and star your place on the shore, and it becomes the map of your Lake Winnsboro.

Questions

Lake Winnsboro map — the details

How big is the map?

Four sizes: 12, 17, 24 and 30 inches on the long side, from $149. Every size is cut from the same depth data of Lake Winnsboro; the bigger boards carry more shoreline roads and place names.

Is it made from real depth data?

Yes. Lake Winnsboro is cut layer by layer from published bathymetric soundings — each layer of birch is a depth contour, so the shape of the bottom is the real one, not decorative.

Can I add my own place on it?

Yes. At checkout you can add a line under the title (a family name, a cabin name, a year) and star the spot on the shore that matters to you.

How long does it take?

Made to order in Waterford, Pennsylvania and shipped in 7–10 days; shipping is free in the lower 48.

Can you make a lake that isn't listed?

Any lake in the United States — we hold depth data for 104,419 of them. Search for yours; if it isn't built yet we build it when you order.
