About Como Lake
Como Lake lies in Rock County, a few miles outside Janesville, in the farmland of south-central Wisconsin. Like most lakes in this part of the state, its basin was shaped by glaciers that retreated from the region roughly 12,000 years ago, leaving behind the kettle depressions and moraine ridges that hold water across the county today. The lake covers close to 964 acres and carries about eight miles of shoreline, bordered by fields, wooded lots, and a mix of year-round and seasonal homes.
At a modeled maximum depth of about 60 feet, Como Lake runs deeper than many of the smaller kettle lakes scattered through Rock County. Its size and shoreline length put it among the larger lakes in the county, even though it stays less known than the bigger recreational lakes farther north in Wisconsin. Sitting only a few miles from Janesville, it is close enough to the city for a day trip but far enough out that it stays mostly residential, drawing property owners and anglers rather than large boating crowds.

Yes. Como Lake is cut layer by layer from published bathymetric soundings — each layer of birch is a depth contour, so the shape of the bottom is the real one, not decorative.
