About Eagle River Chain

The Eagle River Chain is a system of nine interconnected lakes in Vilas County, Wisconsin, covering about 3,600 acres and linking with the neighboring Three Lakes chain to the south to form, together, the largest chain of navigable freshwater lakes in the world at 28 lakes and 174 miles of shoreline. The town of Eagle River sits at the chain's center, in the heart of Wisconsin's Northwoods, with lakes ranging from the tiny 22-acre Lynx Lake to the thousand-acre Catfish Lake. Boating between lakes without ever leaving the water is the chain's main appeal.
