About Lake Keesus
Lake Keesus sits in the Kettle Moraine region of southeastern Wisconsin, ground out by the retreating glaciers of the last ice age like most of Waukesha County's small lakes. It covers roughly 185 acres with about four miles of shoreline, small enough to see across, deep enough in its main basin to hold cold water through summer. The surrounding land is gently rolling glacial till and kettle terrain typical of the area west of Milwaukee.
The shoreline is almost entirely residential, ringed with year-round and seasonal homes rather than public parkland. Anglers fish it for largemouth bass, panfish, and northern pike, and it sees the usual mix of pontoon boats, fishing boats, and paddlers in summer. It sits within easy reach of Waukesha and the western Milwaukee suburbs, close enough for an evening on the water without a long drive.

Yes. Lake Keesus is cut layer by layer from published bathymetric soundings — each layer of birch is a depth contour, so the shape of the bottom is the real one, not decorative.
