About Jenny Lake
Jenny Lake is a natural lake in Grand Teton National Park, gouged out and then dammed by a terminal moraine left as Ice Age glaciers retreated from Cascade Canyon roughly 12,000 years ago. It covers about 1,200 acres directly beneath the sheer east face of the Teton Range, with no foothills to soften the view, and reaches depths over 400 feet. A summer shuttle boat crosses the lake to the Cascade Canyon and Hidden Falls trailheads, and the lake is named for Jenny Leigh, the Shoshone wife of an early trapper-guide in the valley.
