About Jackson Lake

Jackson Lake is a natural glacial lake in Grand Teton National Park, raised about 39 feet by a dam on the Snake River completed in 1916, roughly 15 miles long and 438 feet deep. The Teton Range rises directly from its west shore with no foothills at all, which is why the view is what it is.

Colter Bay, Signal Mountain and Jackson Lake Lodge are the park's lakeside centers; the Snake leaves the lake at the dam and runs south past Jackson Hole. The lake is named for the trapper David Jackson, one of the founders of the Rocky Mountain Fur Company.

Why we cut this one
Jackson Lake is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
