About Possum Kingdom Lake

Possum Kingdom Lake was created in 1941 by Morris Sheppard Dam on the Brazos River west of Fort Worth, about 17,000 acres and 145 feet deep, with 310 miles of rocky shoreline. Hell's Gate, the twin cliffs at the mouth of a cove, is the lake's landmark and the site of a cliff-diving championship.
