About Blue Lake
Blue Lake sits in a narrow basin near Wenatchee, Washington, part of the Columbia River drainage in the state's central plateau region shaped by ice-age floods that scoured the surrounding channeled scablands. The lake covers about 502 acres, small enough to see across but long enough to organize a shoreline of cabins, orchards, and a handful of public access points. Highway 97A and the Columbia River run nearby, putting the lake within a short drive of Wenatchee and the smaller towns of Orondo and Entiat.
The lake draws anglers after smallmouth bass, yellow perch, and stocked trout, along with waterfowl hunters working the reeds in fall. Its shoreline runs roughly seven miles, modest compared to the region's larger reservoirs, which keeps boat traffic lighter and the water closer to shore-fishing range. Local use skews toward Chelan and Douglas County residents rather than distant tourists, with orchard workers and retirees making up much of the year-round shoreline population. The lake's basin shape, long and comparatively narrow, reflects the same flood-carved topography visible across the channeled scablands to the east.
