The lake

About Lake Crescent

Lake Crescent lies inside Olympic National Park west of Port Angeles, about 12 miles long and 624 feet deep, its water so low in nitrogen that it stays a brilliant blue-green. The lake holds two fish found nowhere else, the Beardslee rainbow and the Crescenti cutthroat.

Lake Crescent Lodge, built in 1915, and the Rosemary Inn hosted Franklin Roosevelt on the visit that led him to create the park in 1938. US-101 runs along its south shore under Mount Storm King; the Spruce Railroad Trail follows the north.
